Imagine being able to have a second pair of eyes to the world but then with this being able to have drop down menu's which give you the history of a building, the name of a piece of art, the nearest set of toilets in that emergency situation and then we have just a fraction of the user experiences now being invited for use, by freeware portals such as Wikitude. This multi-platform Augmented Reality software now makes the 'world' digital as you are invited to explore your surroundings. You interact with your locality by peering through the lens in the case of Google Goggles but through the camera on smartphones and compatible appliances. This will bring with it a whole new area of advertising as people digitally scan their surroundings for their favourite high street stores. The digital marker for the store may be more important than the actual look of the store.
Communication through the applications is encouraged with other other users through the various functionalities; which include but is not restricted to the ability to be a developer and submit your own modification to their infrastructure allowing users to design their own experiences, there is a chat forum which can b done in both communal and private formats but also the creative opportunities for those wishing to be more anonymous which allows the user to send a message in a virtual bottle which will work as the foundation for my final project.
